Mission Space Lab
The European Astro Pi Challenge offers young people the amazing opportunity to conduct scientific investigations in space by writing computer programs that run on Raspberry Pi computers aboard the International Space Station. Astro Pi is an ESA Education project run in collaboration with the Raspberry Pi Foundation.
Available Missions
Mission Zero
Young people under the age of 14 write a simple program to take a humidity reading onboard the International Space Station and communicate it to the astronauts with a personalised message, which will be displayed in space for 30 seconds!
Mission Space Lab
Teams of young people under the age of 19 design and program a scientific experiment to run on board the International Space Station. To participate in Mission Space Lab, teams will have to think of an idea for an experiment that fits one of the following two themes: Life in Space: Your experiment will investigate life onboard the Columbus module of the International Space Station. Life on Earth: Your experiment will investigate life on the Earth’s surface.
